Yes, you read correctly. Tank Docta. Please don’t ever call it Doctor, either. It’s Docta.
Where do I start?
My gear is still a work in progress. It’s expensive. I’m currently farming act 4 inferno with my glass cannon gear, hitting 55k dps. I decided to go with my heart, and began farming for Tank Docta gear. Slowly but surely, I’ve gotten to the point where I can afk-tank act 1 inferno, I have a challenging, but doable, time doing act 2, and I have a difficult and slow time doing act 3. I still have many upgrades (and rather expensive ones) left, so I’m very optimistic about this build’s future. I’m progressing smoothly and safely with this build, and it doesn’t feel nearly as volatile as my glass cannon build.
Now that that’s out of the way, here’s the build I use in the pet videos:
(Except the act 2 pet video, I replace Fetishes with Soul Harvest)
Here’s the CC-Heavy Build I use in the act 2 group video added in the “another another update” section:
There are plenty more variant builds for being a Tank Docta, and there’s no correct one. Play around with every skill we have, be your own judge!
I do plenty (and sometimes too much) explaining in the videos, so I’m keeping this post short.
“Did you say videos?”
Why yes, yes I did:
In this video I explain the skills in detail and why I made the choices I did. (Mainly to save myself the trouble of typing.) I then run a little bit of Halls of Pain in Act 1 Inferno, fight a minion immune arcane enchanted pack, clear a couple white packs, display some afk-tanking while pets kill stuffs, and then wrap up. It’s a 14 minute video, sorry for the length in advance.
I’ve decided to add a full 5-stack Butcher run, to give more examples of Champion pack fights. The first video I posted didn’t show enough good encounters. Feel free to watch / skim through it. (27 min long):
Added a sample act 2 farm run, showcasing zombie dogs tanking heavy aoe damage, as well as myself of course. This is a Tank Docta, we’re talkin’ about:
Also, I address a lot of people’s stat-questions and gear concerns in this post:
*ANOTHER ANOTHER UPDATE*
I ran some act 2 with a barb and monk friend of mine, using a CC-heavy, petless Tank Docta variant.
This link is a commentary, and the recommended video to watch, of our act 2 adventures:
If you’re interested, here is the full, unedited, 1 hour, 49 minute version:
I do not wish to disclose the exact details on my gear, or really the math behind the gear selection, at this time. Soon. I’m still fine-tuning. A helpful guide on what to search for, however:
- Life Regen
- (Optional) Thorns
Just try to stack as much of the above stats as possible!
