Diablo 3 will arrive before you know it. We know it has been a long wait, but there is no need to go and freeze yourself. Until the day Diablo 3 finally comes out for you to play, you can read all about the game, starting with the Diablo 3 Runestones Guide. This way, you will be able to master it and know what you need to do before the game is even released!

What are Runestones?

Of course, while some of you already know what Runestones are, others may not. Runestones are items in Diablo 3 – you can attach them to any ability or spell for any class. When you attach it to the selected ability or spell, you are going to make the ability or spell more powerful – you are going to change what the spell or ability does.

For example, you have an awesome melee ability that slaps the bad guy across the fact. It could be better, if you apply the Runestone. Apply the Runestone to that melee attack and you will have a super smack, hitting all of the bad-guys around you at the same time. This is the ultimate damage as it hits bad guys around you as well and not just one opponent.

Different Types of Runestones

In Diablo 3, you have a total of five different Runestones. Each one of the Runestones will come with its own affect on a different ability. You can find the Runestones in the game.

The Runestones include:

  1. Indigo
  2. Crimson
  3. Golden
  4. Alabaster
  5. Obsidian

In addition to having five different forms of Runestones, the Runestones have seven different levels. As the Runestones level increases, the affect is going to become more and more powerful and that is exactly what you want.

Where exactly do you find the Runestones?

The Runestones will be dropped at random. They are usually dropped by boss mobs, but it is possible for them to come from any mob throughout the game. From the information we have read, they are rare and are hard to come by and if you want to buy one, you will pay a lot of “in game” money.

As Diablo 3 has not been released as of yet, we will have more information covering Runestones in the future as we do not know all about the game as of yet ( March 8, 2012). For now, all we know is that if you want a chance to get that Runestone, you need to kill, kill, kill! On an ending note, if you come across a Runestone and you already have one on, you will be able to change it and keep both of the Runestones.
